Questions one should be asking with
regards to his aircraft mechanic….
How many hours will your mechanic work on your annual inspection?
-Is this sufficient time to do quality work?
-Are necessary preventative maintenance tasks being performed?
Is the work being done in a well-lit heated hangar?
Or out of the the back of his car?
Is your mechanic using the most current technical manuals available?
Is the mechanic’s technical entry in your Journey Log sufficiently detailing the work that was performed?
-Is all Transport Canada required paperwork being completed major modifications, Weight and Balance amendments, dual inspection signatures…?
Is your mechanic capable of doing the work you are asking of them?
Is he capable of admitting his limitations?
Does your mechanic have easy access to parts and have inventory on-hand?
Does your mechanic have insurance in case something should happen while the aircraft is in his possession?
Other than low price, are there any other good attributes… you can give to this mechanic’s work?
